Heady Conduct

We make exhilarating theatre, that ignites the soul.

Heady Conduct make potent and intoxicating theatre, mixing technique and genres to create an explosive style of storytelling.

We have worked with many people from different theatrical backgrounds around the world. This inspires us to find new ways to capture the imaginations and hearts of our audiences and make theatre using timeless and universal stories.

We want to create opportunities for young and talented people, and support actors and artists into employment.

The Beginning

The company was set up by Beck Rogers and Simon Rodda in September 2015. We performed our first show as a new company, RECKLESS, at The Rose Playhouse, the first theatre in Southwark, and where Shakespeare himself performed. The Rose Playhouse was hosting new, innovative work 400 years ago and we were proud to continue the tradition with RECKLESS. Our debut show received critical acclaim and the company was invited back in 2016 to perform Measure for Measure. We were part of Shakespeare 400, a consortium of leading cultural, creative and educational organisations, celebrating the 400th anniversary since Shakespeare’s death.

From then on, the company have grown, in number, in creative vision, in glorious audiences. We have performed far and wide, from London to the Isle of Wight to Aotearoa, New Zealand.

CREATIVE DIRECTORS

Rebecca Rogers

I was born and raised in Rutland, trained at Bretton Hall, and have always been fascinated with  creating theatre for a live audience, and conjuring an atmosphere that hangs in the air between the artists and the audience members. I find that joint experience absolutely mesmerising, and it’s the place I’d most like to be.

We create, scrap, re-create, collaborate, and try to push ourselves to find new, intriguing ways to tell, share and serve our audiences.

Simon Rodda

I grew up surrounded by the coastline and creative beauty of Cornwall, I trained at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and have wanted to be apart of the creative arts since winning my first Oscar aged 11 (in drama class.) I strive to tell stories that have the ability to effect people and I think live theatre can connect with people unlike anything else. As a theatre maker, I like to catch the audience off guard, to surprised, to moved, to have people roaring with laughter in one moment and pulling on their heart strings in next.

I believe theatre has the power to reconnect us, entertain, educate, enlighten us, and that playfulness is key.
